Using Forms to Collect Information

We are happy to announce that we have implemented a new feature for our SJU Clubs users: Google Form integration.

Google Forms are a great way to collect information from visitors.  Club leaders may wish to create forms to collect ideas from their club members, sign-ups from new members, and event registrations.

Google Forms are easy to create.  If you’ve never created a Google Form, you can find tutorials online – written instructions from Google, or even video tutorials.

Once you have created your form, you can integrate it into your WordPress site on either a page or a post.  First, create a new page or a new post on your website, or edit an existing page or post.  Then, in the editor for that post, type the WordPress Shortcode [gform form='form-address-here']. You will need to replace the text form-address-here with the address of your form.

For example, suppose you want to integrate the form at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&pli=1&formkey=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ12345678#gid=0, (not a real URL) use the following shortcode in your WordPress post or page:

[gform form='https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&pli=1&formkey=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ12345678#gid=0']

We hope that you find this to be a useful tool as you build and maintain your club website.  If you have any questions about this, please email the SJU Helpdesk and be sure to mention that you are working on your SJU Club Website.
