SJU Senate HOPE Initiative

HOPE Logo

The HOPE Initiative is a SJU Student Senate organization dedicated to mental health awareness on campus, and de-stigmatizing the negative associations of mental health issues.

Through events such as our monthly seminars, we HOPE to bring SJU student together and provide a safe and welcoming environment to discuss these issues we would otherwise tend to avoid.

We work very close with organizations like CAPS and the Office of Student Disabilities, helping to make sure students know their options when it comes to their resources on campus.

You're never alone. There is always HOPE

Why We HOPE?

My name is Nick Farrell, and I am the current CAPS Chair for the 23rd Saint Joe's Student Senate, as well as the founder of the HOPE Initiative. Mental health awareness is the reason I joined senate. I have struggled with my own battles of mental health in the past, and know what it feels like to be that low. There were times in my life where I felt hopeless, but through support from such a large group of people that loved me, I was able to find HOPE and meaning in my life. That is why I started the HOPE Initiative, to make sure that no one else on this campus ever feels alone, and make sure every last hawk knows: You are never alone. There is always HOPE!
