Soar To Success: URBN

On Thursday, October 6th SJU alum Clare McElroy along with one other representative from the URBN brand, headquartered here in Philadelphia, presented their roles within the company, as well as the internship opportunities available!


About URBN

In 1970, Dick Hayne was just 23 years old when he fostered the idea for a second-hand clothing, furniture, jewelry, and home decor store for college-aged customers in a casual and fun environment.  This idea that began as a topic for an entrepreneurial class has transformed into an iconic brand that we all have come to know and love.


Today, included under URBN are other separate companies, which as a whole make up the brand:

Urban Outfitters: “Lifestyle retailer dedicated to inspiring customers through a unique combination of product, creativity and cultural understanding”

Anthropologie: “One of the original lifestyle brands whose unique lens on the world has served as a compass in our customers’ lives for nearly 24 years. Unique as she is, our customer views Anthropologie as a brand that truly gets her”

Free People: “We delve into the lifestyle of our girl, encouraging self-confidence and self-expression; the ability to identify what she loves is our secret to offering her the best product assortment and experience possible”

Terrain: “A garden, home and outdoor lifestyle brand deeply rooted in nature and plant life”

BHLDN: “For the meadow bride, the manor bride, the backyard and city hall bride, for the bride by the sea and all brides looking for something a bit different”

Vetri: “We aim to impress our guests and provide impeccable service so it’s always a dining experience you’ll never forget whether it’s in a pizzeria, cafe, or fine dining restaurant”
