In September of 2013, the International Business Society (IBS) and Chinese Student & Scholars Association (CSSA) partnered together on an event for the first time. CSSA, an organization for oversea Chinese students, heavily promotes opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to become culturally involved within the community. With this in mind, IBS focused on creating an event that would establish “guanxi” (relationships) between American and Chinese students.
The beginning of the event included presentations from American andChinese students educating members on their respective country’s housing market and economic growth. Following the discussions, students were placed into groups and too the train into Chinatown for team-building exercises. Finally, all of the teams met up at an authentic Chinese restaurant where they learned business etiquette in a Chinese environment.
