Hawks get the chance to play at RUNY academy

Over the past weekend, May 23rd 2021, 2 Hawks rugby players, Connor Hohman 23’ and Jonathan Ahern 22’ participated in the first game of the 2021 season for the Rugby United New York MRL Academy against the New England Independants U23. In a back and forth exciting match New York was able to hold onto a slim 28-26 lead and claim the victory in the first ever meeting between the two sides. The game was a curtain raiser to the MLR rivalry between Rugby United New York and the New England Freejacks, giving all the players exposure to a pro level environment for games. Connor Hohman started at Lock on Sunday and gave a solid 50 minute shift for the side, John Ahern was a substitute for fly half from the bench on the day. The team has 4 more games on their schedule for the early summer season, and we look forward to cheering on our hawks for continued success showing off their skills at a higher level.
