The Ultimate Sacrifice – POW/MIA’s

Veterans give and are currently giving the ultimate sacrifice in the physical and mental service to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. On September 15, 2017 President Trump declared National POW/MIA Recognition Day for all those who have faithfully served our country and never returned home. When we reflect on the sacrifices that these brave men and women have made we must also consider the hardships their families continually endure knowing they will possibly never see their love one’s again. Being the daughter and niece of two Vietnam Veterans who were extremely blessed and fortunate I constantly reflect on the possibilities of “what if” they never returned and how my life would have been different?. War changes one’s perceptions on the world and life and dealing with the after effects can be a great challenge. Our nation may have had its ups and downs but we are stronger because of the absolute dedication of freedom fighter’s past, present and future. Saint Joseph’s University conducted a POW/MIA vigil and flag relay on Friday September 15th  at 9am on Sweeney Field. If you would like more information on how you can help POW/MIA’s families or organizations contact the SJU Office of Veterans Services. Thank you for your service and we will never forget.
