Volunteer Opportunities

The Social Justice Network has worked to create volunteer opportunities for varying time commitments and proximities to campus.  Below are 4 options that we have set up to connect you to service opportunities.  We encourage everyone to post on our discussion board about their service experience.

  1. Distance Learners – If you are not located near SJU’s campus but still want to experience the Magis spirit and participate in service check out unitedway.org to find service opportunites near you.  Then connect with your SJU peers through the Service Discussion Board.
  2. Self-directed Service – Decide on times and locations that work for you and your schedule.  Click here for a list of non-profit organizations you can become involved in right here in Philadelphia.
  3. Monthly Service with the Simpson House – the SJN will coordinate a service outing once a month to the Simpson House Assisted Living facility.  We will meet on campus, engage in service, and regroup and reflect afterward for a true service community experience.  Click here to sign up for February 25th at 2:00 p.m.
  4. Tutor/Mentor program – if working with children or adolescents is your area of interest, we can help match you up with a mentee from a neighboring school.  Click here to provide your contact information and availability.
