Protégé Liz Sweeney

Meet Sophomore Liz Sweeney! Liz is currently the protégé to Gina Maria Vreeland, the Director of Communications for the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI). Liz is a sophomore Psychology major and is also pursuing a minor in Political Science. Originally from Wilmington Delaware, Liz attended Charter School of Wilmington.

Not only is Liz involved with WLI, but she also participates in many campus activities and organizations. Liz serves as a member of the Peer Review Board, participates in weekly service and POWER U, and is a brother of service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. Additionally, Liz has traveled and served as a part of the Winter Immersion Program and Appalachian Experience.   

When asked about her greatest passion, Liz said, “I’m really passionate about creating a diverse society in which individuals greater recognize the importance of compassion and standing up for the rights of others.” She is inspired by national figures such as Michelle Obama and Ellen Degeneres, as well her local representative Lisa Blunt Rochester. Through WLI, Liz hopes to become a leader who listens to others and facilitates education and change. Liz plans to utilize these leadership skills and pursuing a graduate degree or Ph.D. in Psychology.
