Protégé Profile: Sydney Rose

Meet Sydney Rose! Sydney is from Watchung, New Jersey. She is a sophomore Communications major with a Film minor. She joined WLI in the fall 2021 semester as one of our Communication Team Proteges. She joined WLI because she loved the club’s supportive environment of women with intersecting identities. So far her favorite WLI event was our fall semester study break. Sydney enjoyed meeting and talking with different club members and taking a relaxing break from the stress of finals. She would recommend WLI to others because it is a great way to make friends. All the members are very welcoming and went out of their way to make her feel like she belonged. Sydney is interested in entering public relations after finishing school. She wants to work on maintaining the images of business and public figures. She hopes to find a way to implement her film minor because screenwriting has always been one of her hobbies. A major social issue today that is important to Sydney is protecting black women’s lives. Black women today face high levels of misogyny in the medical field as well as die at disproportionately high rates. Sydney is inspired by her mother and grandmother. Both these women have persevered and triumphed in less than ideal circumstances. WLI is so excited to see everything you do- welcome Sydney!
